A bathroom with a little personality
This Long Island City condo had a plain builder-grade bathroom. The owner wanted one thing to stand out without making the room feel busy. We chose the floor.
The plan
- Patterned porcelain floor tile as the one bold feature
- Simple white wall tile to keep the room bright
- A tiled shower wall with a matching niche
- Clean edge trim so nothing looks unfinished
Small bathrooms are common in Queens. A strong floor with quiet walls makes the space feel bigger, not smaller.
Built to last
Every wet area was waterproofed, and the floor was leveled before tile went down. Pattern tile shows every mistake, so the layout was planned from the center of the room out.
