From tub to walk-in shower
The owners of this Bayside house were done stepping over a tub. They asked for a walk-in shower that was easy to get into and easy to clean.
How we built it
- Removed the old tub and checked the subfloor
- Built a sloped shower floor so water runs to the drain every time
- Waterproofed the walls and floor as one system
- Added a built-in niche for shampoo, no more bottles on the floor
Small mosaic tile on the shower floor gives your feet grip. Larger tile on the walls keeps the look calm and simple.
The part you never see
A shower can look perfect on day one and leak on day ninety. The difference is what is behind the tile. We do not skip waterproofing, and we test it before the first tile goes up.
